Core J2EE Patterns Well, I'm back to working with DAO, because I couldn't get ejbDoclet to generate my Enitity BMP correctly. I am following the patterns in the Core J2EE Patterns book. I've notice a slight difference between the book and the online version in that what the book calls the Value Object is now called the Transfer Object. 10:30 PM

  xPetstore I just found another great example of how to use Struts, EJB and XDoclet. It is xPetstore, a re-implementation of the PetStore app that Sun uses to showcase J2EE. 9:11 AM

  ActionMessages Struts has always had ActionErrors, but today I found out about ActionMessages! I hadn't used them before because they are new to Struts 1.1 and this is my first 1.1 application.

For my application I developed a bean which would contain a list of messages. The Action would fill the list so that they could be displayed on the following confirmation screen.

I had it all working and was working through Google when I came across Struttin' With Struts - Lesson II - 10 - Create InsertEmployeeAction. I am now retrofitting my app.

After googling Matt Raible again I came up with his RegistrationServlet example, and searching for Ted Husted got me a Struts mailing list entry about Confirmation Messages.

I even found some nice UML diagrams.

Anything which reduces the amount of code I have to write and support is greatly appreciated. 10:35 AM
